The College of Idaho Sociology Professor 斯科特•德雷伯 has contributed a chapter to a forthcoming multi-author book, 集体欢腾, set to be released in February 2026 by Temple University Press. The book, edited by Sebastien Tutenges (Aarhus University) and 菲利普•史密斯 (Yale University), explores how collective effervescence manifests across a wide range of social settings — from religious rituals to everyday gatherings — and why these shared emotional experiences are vital to human connection.
Dr. Draper’s chapter examines the influence of 声音和音量 in shaping collective effervescence within religious contexts. His work joins that of several distinguished international scholars, including sociologists 兰德尔·柯林斯, 阿什利·米尔斯, and 布拉德·西.
Several current and former Yotes also contributed to this project through valuable research assistance, including Suhaila Arni Muhammed, Lex琼斯, 凯文中方 (’23), 罗南·伯恩 (’25), and 三一米勒 (’24). Draper also expressed gratitude to professors 肖恩·布莱克威尔, 保罗·默尔顿, and 亚伦维斯 for their insightful feedback throughout the process.
这本书代表了跨学科奖学金的重要一步,桥接社会学,人类学和文化研究,以更好地理解人类集体能量如何驱动意义和统一。
